Being originally from New York, I’ve seen people post about SOJO Spa Club in Edgewater, New Jersey for years. It’s about an hour from where I grew up, and always looked like one of those places you bookmark and say, “one day.” This past weekend, I finally made it there with one of my best friends—who also happens to be a fellow esthetician based in New York.
After a few nonstop years in business for both of us, we were overdue for a reset. We also saw it as a chance to gather inspiration from a highly-rated day spa—something we could bring back to our own treatment rooms and client experiences.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt calm and elevated. The staff was welcoming, the space was beautiful, and the attention to detail stood out right away. Every part of the day—from check-in to checkout—was handled with care. It reminded me how important it is to create that same kind of thoughtful, well-rounded experience for my own clients.
We spent the day exploring SOJO’s mineral pools, hot tubs, and hydrotherapy spaces, all while enjoying a stunning view of the NYC skyline. We also booked a couples massage—something I had never done before. While the massage itself wasn’t the most technical bodywork I’ve ever received, the overall experience was memorable, and I’d go back in a heartbeat.
What really stuck with me was how the environment made me feel—relaxed, welcomed, and taken care of. It made me think about how we can continue to elevate the experience at Vixen Esthetics, beyond just offering the best brows and corrective skincare in Austin. Experience matters—and this visit reminded me that it’s often the small details that keep people coming back.
I’m feeling recharged, inspired, and excited to bring a few new ideas into the treatment room. There’s always room to grow, and this visit gave me a fresh perspective on how we can continue raising the bar for our clients.
